
Zhiheng Ashley Zhang is a curator, researcher, and writer based in New York, focusing on the intersections of art and technology, socially engaged art, and underrepresented artist communities. Her curatorial practice emphasizes materiality, spatial dynamics, and audience engagement, fostering deeper connections between art, its environment, and its viewers. Most recently, she launched Nuumirror, an AI-driven initiative that builds 3D digital archives of exhibitions, expanding possibilities for exhibition research and preservation.
Her curatorial projects have been exhibited internationally. In New York, she curated “Attention! Please Scan!” and “The Ephemeral Urban Enigmas” at Sojourner Gallery, as well as “But to Bestow Meanings Upon Flowers” at Accent Sister. In China, she curated “Virtual Niche – Have You Ever Seen Memes in the Mirror” at Beijing UCCA Lab and Shanghai Jinghua Art, along with Zhang Yu’s solo exhibition “Empty House” at Mountain Space Beijing. In Japan, she co-curated “Where Aphrodite Bleeds, Red Roses Bloom” at Spatium Ginza, Tokyo. In 2024, she was selected as a Curator-in-Residence at Residency Unlimited (RU), where she contributed to RU’s public programs with her talk Curating for Diverse Audiences.
Beyond curation, Zhang writes bilingually for galleries and art media. She authored the bilingual press release for Xinyan Wang’s solo exhibition Metamorphosis at Nicodim Gallery and has published articles on The Armory Show (Art China), artist Dongrong Xu (IDEAT China), and Tutu Gallery in Brooklyn (Beijing Youth Net). Her writings have been widely circulated across various media platforms.
